We acquired our first Cavalier before our two children were old enough to go to school (they are teenagers now). We loved what we knew about the breed…great with children, playful and gentle, the perfect companion dog. Many hours were spent learning what we could about the breed, and selecting the right puppy, before we purchased our first Cavalier, Aslan. We named him after a character from the Chronicles of Narnia. We were so taken with him, we added Cinderella and Tiara, two tri littermates, shortly after. For quite some time it was just the three of them. I (Julie) taught elementary school at the time, but decided at one point, that I was going to make taking care of my family and raising Cavaliers my priority. Many hours were spent educating myself regarding the bloodlines and health considerations of the Cavalier. Rilian, our very first AKC champion, also named after a character from the Chronicles of Narnia came years later. Aslan and Rilian are the reasons behind the name “Cair Paravel”…the fictional castle in the Chronicles of Narnia. Our Cavaliers are very loved and are part of our family. They enjoy relaxing on the couch, hanging out by the pool, meandering around our thirteen acres with us and being a part of our everyday lives.
